Advanced Camera with Interchangeable Lens cameras that propose new forms of imaging expression and enjoyment

TOKYO-Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the release of the
first two models in the new Nikon 1 series, the J1 and V1. Nikon 1 is
an advanced interchangeable lens that proposes new forms of imaging
expression with a new super high-speed AF CMOS image sensor, the new
high-speed image-processing engine, EXPEED 3, and the new Nikon 1 mount
lens system.

Development Background

As a manufacturer of optical devices, Nikon has long developed
products equipped with innovative new features based on technologies
originally cultivated decades ago for film cameras. The many cameras
released by Nikon over the years have continuously expanded photographic
possibilities. Even with the nearly complete transition to digital
that we see today, Nikon has continued to expand its lineups of compact
digital cameras and digital-SLR cameras. Nikon's COOLPIX-series cameras
are user friendly compact digital cameras, while the D-series line of
digital-SLR cameras supports the needs of an incredibly wide variety of
photographer, from the beginner to the professional. Nikon will
celebrate its 95th anniversary next year, and is extremely proud of its
record of having utilized its optical technologies in the development of
many innovative products over nearly a century. So that we may
continue our role as a leading company in the imaging industry in this
age when digital technologies have become so common, Nikon looks forward
to proposing new forms of imaging enjoyment and value over the next
century as well. The first step in this process has been the
development of a new type of camera that creates new imaging
possibilities never before considered with conventional compact digital
cameras or digital-SLR cameras.

Nikon 1 J1 / V1 Primary Features

The world's smallest and lightest*1 interchangeable lens digital cameras that propose new forms of imaging expression

Faster image processing and superior reproduction characteristics
have been achieved for both still images and movies through the
combination of the CMOS image sensor and image-processing engine, both
developed by Nikon. The cameras are also equipped with Nikon's newest
lens mount system. Despite the new lens mount, the mount adapter
enables the use of existing F-mount NIKKOR lenses*2 with the J1 and V1,
for excellent compatibility with equipment users may already own.

Nikon 1 mount, Nikon's new compact, high-performance lens mount system

The Nikon 1 mount is the new lens mount system developed for
compatibility with Nikon's new imaging format. The new mount not only
supports the dedicated 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6, 1 NIKKOR VR
30-110mm f/3.8-5.6, 1 NIKKOR 10mm f/2.8 and 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm
f/4.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM Nikon 1-mount interchangeable lenses, but also F-mount
NIKKOR lenses*2, manufactured by Nikon for more than half a century,
when the new FT1 mount adapter is used. This enables users to enjoy
tremendous variety in their imaging expression with the ability to
choose the lens best suited to the scene, subject, or their own creative
intent from a broad lineup of standard and special-purpose lenses.

The world's first*3 cameras to be equipped with a new super
high-speed AF CMOS image sensor and offer focal plane phase detection AF

The new super high-speed AF CMOS sensor is a Nikon CX-format CMOS
image sensor. With the new CX format, Nikon has added a new imaging
format to its existing Nikon FX and DX formats for digital-SLR cameras.
The J1 and V1 are the world's first interchangeable lens digital
cameras equipped with focal plane phase detection AF*3 for the world's
fastest autofocusing*4.
They offer standard sensitivities of ISO 100 to 3200, with the ability
to further increase sensitivity to an equivalent of ISO 6400 with a Hi 1
setting.
They also support matrix metering, center-weighted metering and spot
metering.

*1Applies to V1 only: Among
interchangeable lens cameras with a built-in electronic viewfinder
(EVF). (Based on Nikon research as of September 21, 2011.)

*2Autofocus may not perform as expected
in some situations or with some lenses. Restrictions apply to mounting
and functionality with some lenses.

*3Among interchangeable lens digital cameras. (Based on Nikon research as of September 21, 2011.)

*4Among interchangeable lens digital
cameras available as of September 21, 2011. Statement based on
performance with shooting using the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 at the
maximum wide-angle position with AF-area mode set to Single-point.
Results based on Nikon test conditions.

New EXPEED 3 image processing engine

The cameras are equipped with Nikon's latest image-processing engine,
EXPEED 3, which is based on EXPEED, Nikon's exclusive comprehensive
image-processing concept, and optimized for the Nikon 1 system for
increased speed and performance.

Simple operation with compact and lightweight bodies that make them perfect for everyday use

The J1 and V1 are compact and lightweight cameras that you can keep
with you at all times, making them perfect not only for vacations and
special events, but also for quick and easy capture of everyday scenes
or unexpected episodes.
You can easily record photos or movies with four shooting modes (Motion Snapshot, Smart Photo Selector, Still image, Movie).

A new advanced hybrid autofocus system that enables the world's fastest autofocusing*1 with the world's most focus points*2

The advanced hybrid autofocus system combines phase detection AF,
which enables faster focusing and superior subject tracking performance
with moving subjects, with contrast-detect AF, which performs well in
low-light conditions. This hybrid system ensures optimal focusing under
a variety of shooting conditions.
As the world's first*1 interchangeable lens cameras to implement focal
plane phase detection AF, the J1 and V1 have achieved the high-speed
autofocusing needed for certain capture of even the most unexpected
photo opportunities. This enables certain capture of the perfect photo
opportunities when shooting moving subjects and subjects such as
children and pets whose movement is very difficult to predict.
What's more, at 10 fps, the cameras also offer the world's fastest
continuous shooting rate*3 with AF tracking, and the world's fastest
high-speed continuous shooting rate*4 of 60 fps.
The J1 and V1 also boast the most focus points*2—73 with phase detection
AF—available with any interchangeable lens digital camera currently
available.

*1Among interchangeable lens digital
cameras available as of September 21, 2011. Statement based on
performance with shooting using the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 at the
maximum wide-angle position with AF-area mode set to Single-point.

cameras available as of September 21, 2011. Refers to the number of
phase detection AF points available for selection at an AF-area mode
setting of Single-point. (Based on Nikon research.)

*3At shutter speeds of 1/60 s or faster
and an aperture setting of f/5.6 or larger. Results based on Nikon test
conditions as of September 21, 2011. (Based on Nikon research.)

*4The maximum number of shots per burst
is 30 with the V1 and 12 with the J1. Maximum shooting rate when focus
is locked with the first shot in a burst. Results based on Nikon test
conditions as of September 21, 2011. (Based on Nikon research.)

Motion Snapshot, imaging function that combines full-HD movie with a still image for more dramatic imaging expression

In Motion Snapshot mode, simply pressing the shutter-release button
records a still image and about a second of high-resolution movie
footage beginning before and ending after the time the shutter-release
button was pressed. Movies recorded in Motion Snapshot mode are played
back in slow motion. With slow-motion playback at 0.4x normal playback
speed of the movie and a still image, Motion Snapshot allows users to
express impressive moments that show slight changes in expression, the
rustling of tree leaves, or fluctuations in nature.

Shooting/recording: Choose one of four themes (Beauty, Waves, Relaxation, Tenderness)
prior to shooting. When the shutter-release button is pressed halfway,
the camera begins recording movie footage to the memory buffer. When
the shutter-release button is pressed the rest of the way down, a still
image, along with about a second of movie footage beginning before and
ending after the time the shutter-release button was pressed, are
recorded to the memory card.

Playback: After approximately 2.5 seconds of movie
footage recorded in Motion Snapshot is played back in slow motion, the
still image is displayed. Total movie/still image display lasts for 10
seconds, during which time the background music for the selected theme
is played. The movie file and still image file recorded each time the
shutter-release button is pressed in Motion Snapshot mode are stored as a
set on the memory card. This fun new feature enables a new form of
imaging expression that combines both still images and movie footage
using conventional shooting operations.

Smart Photo Selector for simple capture of the best shot

When the shutter-release button is pressed halfway in Smart Photo
Selector mode, the camera focuses and begins buffering images. When the
shutter-release button is then pressed the rest of the way down, the
camera compares shots recorded to the buffer both before and after the
shutter-release button was pressed, and automatically selects five to
record to the memory card. It also eliminates the need for capturing a
large volume of shots with continuous shooting and the troublesome
process of later manually selecting the best shot from a series.

Shooting/recording: Rotate the mode dial to Smart
Photo Selector mode. When the shutter-release button is pressed
halfway, the camera focuses and begins recording images to the buffer
memory. Up to 20 images can be saved in the buffer memory each time the
shutter-release button is pressed (some before the shutter-release
button is pressed, some after). Of the 20 buffered images, the camera
automatically records the single best shot based on movement and
composition, as well as four additional candidate images to the memory
card.

Playback: Users can choose a different "best shot"
than that selected by the camera from the candidate images, and also
delete unnecessary images.

A simple, high-quality design

The concepts of simple, streamlined, fashionable and high-quality
were adopted for design of both the Nikon 1 J1 and V1. The only
decoration on these flat, smooth cameras is the Nikon 1 brand name and
the J1 or V1 model name on the front of the cameras. Positioning of a
rear grip ensures a firm hold on the camera without sacrificing its
simple, flat shape.
What's more, lenses are available in the same colors as the cameras* for
an integrated appearance. The graphical user interface (GUI) adopted
for monitor display is structured to be as simple and streamlined as the
cameras themselves. Superfluous menus have been eliminated for an
intuitive, easy-to-understand GUI design.

*Kit lenses only.

Air-gapless structure adopted for LCD monitor with wide viewing angle

The J1 is equipped with a 3.0-inch, approximately 460k-dot TFT LCD
monitor with wide-viewing angle, and the V1 offers a 3.0-inch,
approximately 921k-dot TFT LCD monitor with wide-viewing angle. The
monitors built into both cameras utilize an air-gapless structure with
which the protective glass and LCD panel are integrated for a thinner
design and increased visibility outdoors, enabling users to enjoy more
beautiful display of their photos and movies.

Short Movie Creator automatic movie editing software that is easy to use and can be launched independently

The Short Movie Creator software bundled with the cameras is an
automatic movie editing application that is fun to use with still images
and movies recorded with Nikon 1 cameras. It can be used to easily
create original short movies with imaging effects (styles) and
background music. Short movies created with Short Movie Creator can be
saved to a memory card for viewing on the camera, or uploaded to online
movie sharing sites such as YouTubeTM. In addition, collaboration with
Nikon's image transfer, browsing, editing and sharing software, ViewNX
2, enables easy organization and editing of still images and movies.

Short Movie Creator Primary Features

Easily create original short movies from still images and movies by
simply selecting an imaging effect (style) and music. With a maximum
playback time of 30 minutes, three options are available: Summarize to
fit to music, Use all images and movies, Summarize to manual length.

Priority can be placed on the two seconds before and after a
specific portion by simply selecting a "best scene". A single movie
file can be registered more than once for specification of additional
best scenes.

Music files can also be edited so that only a specific portion is used.

The frame size and frame rate of short movies can be selected to
suit the manner in which they will be used. Short movies can be saved
to memory cards in a format that makes it possible to view them with the
cameras.

Titles and credits can be added to movie files.*

*Windows version only.

Bright, high-contrast electronic viewfinder with a resolution of approximately 1440k-dot (V1 only)

The V1 is equipped with a bright, high-contrast electronic viewfinder
(EVF) with a resolution of approximately 1440k-dot (SVGA). It is
extremely clear with a frame coverage of approximately 100%, and
utilizes a color filter system that prevents color breakup that appears
as a rainbow artifact due to the interaction between subject movement
and the photographer's eye, for faithful display of moving subjects.

Manimahesh Lake (also known as Dal Lake, Manimahesh) is a high altitude lake (elevation 4,080 metres (13,390 ft)) situated close to the Manimahesh Kailash Peak in the Pir Panjal Range of the HImalyas, in the Bharmour subdivision of Chamba District of the INdian State of Himachal Pradesh. The religious significance of this lake is next to that of the Mansrover in Tibet.
</sup>

The lake is the venue of a highly revered pilgrimage trek undertaken
during the month of August/September corresponding to the month of Bhadon according to Hindu Calender, on the eighth day of the New Moon period. It is known as the ‘Manimahesh Yatra’. The Government of Himachal Pradesh has declared it as a state-level pilgrimage.

Legend

According to one popular legend, it is believed that Lord Shiva created Manimahesh after he married Goddess Parvati, who is worshipped as Mata Girja. There are many legends narrated linking Lord Shiva and his show of displeasure through acts of avalanches and blizzards that occur in the region.

Legend also mentions that Shiva performed penance on the banks of
Manimahesh Lake. In the same vein, it is mentioned that Gaddis, the
tribes of this region, adopted Lord Shiva as their deity. Gaddis are the
people who reside in the Gaddi Valley which is the name of the upper
regions of Ravi River
where the Mount Chamba Kailash lies. Further, according to the legend,
the Shiva, who lived in Mount Kailash, the highest mountain of the
state, gifted the Gaddis with a Chuhali topi (pointed cap), which they
wear traditionally along with their other dress of chola (coat) and dora
(a long black cord about 10–15 m long). The Gaddis started calling the
land of this mountainous region as 'Shiv Bhumi' ("Land of Shiva") and
themselves as devotees of Shiva. The legend further states that before
Shiva married Parvati at Mansrovar Lake
and became the “universal parents of the universe”, Shiva created the
Mount Kailash in Himachal Pradesh and made it his abode. He made Gaddis
his devotees. The land where Gaddis lived extended from 15 miles (24 km)
west of Bharmaur, upstream of the confluence of Budhil and Ravi rivers,
up to Manimahesh. Manimahesh was also considered the abode of the three
Lords of the universe namely, Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. Manimahesh was reckoned as the heaven (kailasa)
of Lord Shiva. The waterfall seen at the Dhancho on the way to
Manimahesh Lake, and which emanates from the lake, was considered as the
heaven (Vaikunta) of Vishnu. The heaven of Bramha is cited as a mound
overlooking the Bharmaur city. The Gaddis also believe that Shiva
resides in the Mount Kailash for six months, whereafter he moves to the netherworld
handing over the reigns to Lord Vishnu. The day he departs to the
netherworld is observed by the Gaddis reverentially every year, which is
the Janmashtami day, the eighth day of the month of Bhadon (August),
the birthday of Lord Krishna
(an incarnation of Lord Vishnu). Shiva returned from the netherworld to
Bharamaur at the end of February, before the night of his wedding and
this day is observed as the Shivratri day; Gaddis observe this also as a festive day since Shiva and Parvati returned to Mount Kailash in the Gaddi land.

Etymology of 'Manimahesh' signifies a "jewel (Mani) on Lord Shiva's
(Mahesh's) crown". According to a local legend, the moon-rays reflected
from the jewel can be seen from Manimahesh Lake on clear Full moon
night (which is a rare occasion). However, it has been inferred that
such a phenomenon could be the result of reflection of light from the
glacier that embellishes the peak in the form of a serpent around
Shiva's neck.

A legend in which Lord Shiva himself is tricked is narrated.
According to this narration linked to Dhancho where pilgrims spend a
night on their way to Manimahesh Lake, Lord Shiva, pleased with the
devotion of one his ardent devotee Bhasmasur(an Asura
or demon) bestowed a boon, which gave powers to Bhasmasur under which
Bhasmasur touching any one would reduce that person in to ashes.
Bhasmasur wanted to try this boon on Shiva himself. He, therefore,
followed Shiva to touch him and get rid of him. However, Shiva managed
to escape and enter into the waterfall at Dhancho and take shelter in a
cave behind the rolling waters of the fall. Bhasmasur could not get
through the waterfall. Then, Lord Vishnu intervened and killed
Bhasamasur. Since then the fall is considered holy and people take bath
here before proceeding to Manimahesh.

A rare event of the first sun’s rays falling on the Mani Mahesh peak is seen in reflection in the lake like saffron tilak.
This display in the lake has enhanced the legendary belief of the
Gaddis on the sanctity of Manimahesh Lake at the base of the Mount
Kailash, which they visit on an annual pilgrimage. This event has also
contributed to the practice of taking bath in the lake on Janmashtami
day or Radhashtami day, fifteen days after the birth of Lord Krishna.

Jammu and Kashmir partially reopened for light vehicles on Wednesday.

The highway to Manali-Leh highway was closed for over six months due to heavy snowfall, an official said.

"The traffic between Manali and Leh was restored initially for light
vehicles," Praveen Yernurkar, officer commanding of the Road
Construction Company (RCC), said.

The RCC is a wing of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) that maintains crucial highways in the country.

He said the entire 475-km stretch would be opened to heavy vehicles by Sunday (June 5).
its way through the Rohtang Pass (13,050 ft), Baralacha Pass (16,020
ft), Lachlungla Pass (16,620 ft) and Tanglangla (17,480 ft).
How to prepare bike for LEH Ride ?

BIKE Preparation

1. At ground level the most important thing is your tyres and your
wheels. Ensure that you have adequate tread on them. We recommend you
start the ride with a brand new set of tyres and tubes; you are less
likely to face punctures etc...

2. Get the rims balanced (this will prevent breaking of spokes and
unnecessary wobbles that could spoil your bikes ride and handling). When
you are getting your wheels balanced make sure that the spokes are not
protruding from inside the rim. If they are they could puncture the tube
from inside. After this, ensure that there is a rubber strip (good
condition) around the inside of the rim. When you disassemble the wheels
check the wheel bearings as well.

3. Inspect and make sure that your bike has only genuine OE parts,
especially hubs, spokes, rims and other engine components. We cannot
provide support for modified items and in such case you are requested to
carry your own spares. We can make arrangements to carry them in the
service truck.

4. Get your shock absorbers inspected. They should be in top working
order. Check the bushes for the rear shock absorbers and replace if
necessary.

5. Check condition of front fork oil seals and replace if needed. Make
sure that there is no crack on the fork bottom tube. If your springs
have sagged or your main tube has worn out get them replaced.

6. Check the rear swingarm bush and replace if needed.

7. Check your chain and rear sprocket for wear. If you find that there
are less than four notch adjustments to go on your chain adjuster cam,
replace your chain and both your sprockets.

8. Your bikes clutch is really crucial for this trip, so make sure that
your clutch is in good order and adjusted properly without the trace of
any drag, slip etc. When you open your clutch cover, also check the
primary chain and the adjuster. Do not use any kind of additional insert
under the chain adjuster. If the adjuster has reached its limit replace
the primary chain.

9. Check your battery and the earthing connections. If you have any
history of electrical trouble, be sure that the problem is completely
solved. The water, vibrations, dust and maybe snow that riders are
likely to encounter on the route could further accentuate existing
problems.

10. Check for play in the steering column and replace the ball race bearing if necessary.

11. Check all the rubber components like carburettor hose, fuel lines,
air filter rubber etc for cracks and tears and replace if in doubt.

12. Check all cables and if found bent of frayed, replace immediately. Do not use oil in friction free cables.

13. Finally tighten all the nuts and bolts and if it is found to slip or the threads are damaged replace the relevant parts.

Engine

This is a very crucial part.

If your bike is working fine let it be. It would be a good idea to do a
weekend trip to try it out and see how it behaves. It would be a good
idea to ride a new bike and make sure that your bike is up to the mark.
If there is any doubt please visit your showroom. Do not
leave the fixing of your bike to the last min and start the trip with an
untested bike.
It is Critical for each Rider to know his/her bike’s fuel or oil consumption.

Things to avoid on the bike

1. Anything that is likely to take a beating from rough roads and vibrations, this includes
              • Extra lights
              • Extra mirrors
              • Heavy after-market horns- more so for fuel injected bikes
              • Arc or gas welding on the chassis
              • Side boxes
              • Any other unnecessary add-ons

2. Non standard high rise or low handlebars

3. Alloy wheels

4. Some number plates fitted on the front mudguard are likely to break the headlamp at full travel

5. Smaller wheels if they drastically reduce your ground clearance

6. Imported street tyres, as these could puncture and suffer for grip on dirt surfaces

7. Extended front forks

8. Modified swing arms

9. Shortened or extended chassis, chain

10. You should either remove any non-standard item from your bike or be prepared to service it on your own

Tool Kit

Ideally each rider should have a basic idea and should be well-versed
with the basic know-how of his/her motorcycle. It is observed that on
rides like these, the most common breakdowns are due to punctures. Due
to rain and water crossings, it is also found that spark plugs may also
pose problems. It is advised that each rider be able to remove the
front/rear wheel of the motorcycle. The rider should also be able to
open his spark plug(s)

In order to do this, each rider must have a tool kit with the motorcycle
at all times on the ride. A complete OE certified tool-kit which comes
with every motorcycle will be able to solve this purpose

Learn to service your bike

While you are preparing your motorcycle it is a good idea to learn some
basic service, for instance: tube changing, chain tightening, cables
adjustment/ replacement, cleaning spark plug & air filter, pushrod
adjustment, replace fuse & bulbs and top up/change engine/gear
box/clutch oil.

courtesy: RE
Sarfroshi ki Tamanna

Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna is a poem in Urdu , written by Bismil Azimabadi.,Ram Prasad Bismil the great Indian Independence leader, famously involved with Kakori Train Robbery made it popular. Alternatively, authorship itself is sometimes attributed to Ram Prasad Bismil.
The poem is written as an ode to the young freedom fighters of the
Indian Independence Movement, and is often associated with the younger
generation of inter-war freedom fighters such as Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad.
"Takhallus" in Urdu poetry
is the name a poet uses just as Mirza Asadullah Khan uses "Ghalib" as
his takhallus. Another example is Pandit Brij Narayan who uses
"Chakbast" as his takhallus in his composition, The Ramayana. Pandit
Anand Mohan Zutshi uses "Gulzar" as his takhallus and his parents were
popularly known by their takhalluses "Zaar" and "Beyzaar". Pandiit
Ramprasad of Azimabad besides being a freedom fighter was a poet par
excellence whose takhallus was "Bismil Azimabadi". The poem Sarfaroshi
is Ramprasad's own composition

English Translation

The desire for sacrifice is now in our hearts
We shall now see what strength there is in the boughs of the enemy.

Why do you remain silent thus?
Whoever I see, is gathered quiet so...
O martyr of country, of nation, I submit myself to thee
For yet even the enemy speaks of thy courage
The desire for struggle is in our hearts...

When the time comes, we shall show thee, O heaven
For why should we tell thee now, what lurks in our hearts?
We have been dragged to service, by the hope of blood, of vengeance
Yea, by our love for nation divine, we go to the streets of the enemy
The desire for struggle is in our hearts...

Armed does the enemy sit, ready to open fire
Ready too are we, our bosoms thrust out to him
With blood we shall play Holi, if our nation need us
The desire for struggle is in our hearts...

No sword can sever hands that have the heat of battle within,
No threat can bow heads that have risen so...
Yea, for in our insides has risen a flame,
and the desire for struggle is in our hearts...

Set we out from our homes, our heads shrouded with cloth,
Taking our lives in our hands, do we march so...
In our assembly of death, life is now but a guest
The desire for struggle is in our hearts...

Stands the enemy in the gallows thus, asking,
Does anyone wish to be sacrificed?...
With a host of storms in our heart, and with revolution in our breath,
We shall knock the enemy cold, and no one shall stop us...

What good is a body that does not have passionate blood,
How can one conquer a storm while in a shored boat.

The desire for struggle is in our hearts,
We shall now see what strength there is in the boughs of the enemy.

Masroor Temple Explored

Masrur is 32 km from Kangra on Nagrota Surian
link road and is famous for remarkable group of rock
cut temples. They form a group of 15 monolithic
rock cut temples in the Indo Aryan style and are
richly carved. These richly ornamented cave temples
are the only rock shrines in the northern part of
India. The main shrine contains three stone images of
Ram laxman and Sita but the presence of the figure
of Shiva in the centre of the lintel affords a
strong presumption that the temple was originally
dedicated to Mahadeva.

Before dealing with the questions of its builders and the
time of its construction, it is important to discuss the rock-cut
technique and the place this temple-complex occupies among the
rockhewn monuments in India. The rock-cut style started
in the reign of the Pallava king Narsingha varman I
Mahamalla (630-668 A.D.) during the first half of the seventh
century . It reached its climax in the Kailasha temples
at Ellora which were taken in hand during the reign of the
Rashtrakuta King Dantidurga (753- 756 A.D.) and finished
during that of Krishna I (758-773 A.D.). Though rock-cut
caves are common in South India, yet temples cut out of
freestanding rocks, known to archaeologists and art
critics, are only four in number-'Rathas of Mammalapuram',
'Kailashas at Ellora', 'temple-complex at Masrur in
Kangra' and the 'Dharmnatha temple at Dhamnar', 65 miles to the
South-East of Jhalra Patan in Rajasthan. The Rathas
and the Kailashas are built in the Dravidian style, whereas
the Masrur and Dhamnar ones are in the Nagara style. Masrur beats
its Nagara rival in situation, size and execution. The Masrur
complex has 15 temples, the Dhamnar has onl y 8. At
Masrur temples not separate from it surround the central
shrine, but at Dhamnar the smaller ones are entirely
separate from the main one. Carvings and ornamentation at
Masrur are of a much superior order than at Dhamnar and
the length of the latter is one- third of the former. The
Dhamnar group has been built in a pit-like hollow, whereas the
Masrur group is on top of a 2500 feet high hill range. One looks
below, the other looks up. One depresses, the other elates.
In point of situation, Masrur beats the other two also.
Ellora Kailasha are built in a pit a hundred feet.
However, Kailasha at Ellora is a supreme creation, one of
the wonders of the world.

Rock-cut style is much more difficult than the structural
one. In the latter, the artist shapes the material as he
likes, whereas in the former the Material determines the
way the artist should move. The limitation makes an artist
creation out of a rock a most difficult task and the ability
with which the remote artist of seventh and eighth centuries
carried out their purpose is superhuman. Only a few of
the original shikharas stand and some of the most
beautifully carved panels are now in the state museum,
Shimla. The main shrine dominates the centre. Although the
remote location of these temples protected them from the
invading army of Mahmud Ghazni and their stone construction
prevented severe damage in the1905 earthquake.

Fighting Fatigue on Long Motorcycle Rides

Motorcycling is more
physically demanding that driving a car and exposes you to the
environment, which can lead to fatigue. To avoid becoming tired on long
motorcycle rises, you need to get adequate rest, plan and prepare,
consume the right food and drink.

Experts say that fatigue contributes to between a fifth and a sixth of all car accidents.
That may not be true in motorcycle accidents across the board, but
fatigue is definitely an issue for riders on trips of three days or
more. It's something that you need to consider and prepare for. If you
are riding with other people, it is an issue that you should discuss and
accommodate as you plan your trip. Different riders will have different
requirements for rest, and if the trip is to be a safe one, all members
of the group should be willing to accommodate each other.

Before
you head out on the highway looking for adventure, follow a few steps
that you can take and plans you can make to avoid having one of your
adventures involve falling asleep on your motorcycle.

Rest:
Adequate
sleep can be a bit hard to come by before and during a multi-day ride. I
am always thinking of things I want to do or remember to bring as I try
to get to sleep on the night before I depart. I also have trouble
getting to sleep while traveling. Many people also have trouble getting a
full night's sleep as they get older. If I combine that with early
departures, I quickly have a sleep deficit. For that reason, I like to
plan to allow myself to sleep late every two or three days, setting no
departure time.

Don't use
alcohol as a sleep aid; it actually tends to reduce both the quantity
and quality of sleep. You might think that you can't fall asleep on a
motorcycle, but I have known riders who simply fell asleep while riding,
waking up as they bounced through a ditch or in the hospital. Riders
who experienced these sorts of adventures often said they didn't even
realize they were tired.

Experts
say that you'll have "tired times" during every 12-hour cycle, most
often between 3:00 and 5:00 (a.m. and p.m., you local time). You may
want to plan to arrive by that point or stop for an early dinner. If you
can or need to, take a day off just to relax and catch up on your
sleep.

Physical Preparation:
Unless
you ride your motorcycle almost every day or take rides of three hours
or more almost every weekend, you may not be completely adapted to your
bike. After a full day or two of riding, you will become acutely aware
of muscles that you are using full-time to ride. You may be able to
overcome some of this discomfort by properly setting up your bike
and fitting components, such as a good aftermarket saddle, that make it
more comfortable. However, you also need to give your body a chance to
adapt. Taking breaks every hour or two, especially during the first few
days of a long ride, will help this adjustment.

Calm:
Extended
exposure to wind and sun dehydrates and fatigues you much more than
your routine two-hour weekend jaunt. Riding in a tanktop and open-face
helmet may seem like the best way to deal with the heat, but will
actually wear you out and heat you up much faster than if you wear a
vented or mesh jacket and a helmet that protects your face from the
wind. Perspiration gets a chance to stay on and cool your skin if the
wind flow is reduced but not eliminated. You will sharply reduce sunburn
and windburn and their fatiguing effects by covering yourself fully. A
windshield also reduces the amount of wind that's tearing at you but
leaves enough to cool you.

Quiet:
Wind
noise (and exhaust noise if you have loud pipes) will not only
permanently damage your hearing, it will fatigue you quickly. Both noise
sources are at their worst if you don't wear a helmet, but even a
full-face helmet that seals your ears well won't attenuate these noise
sources sufficiently on an extended ride, so you should wear earplugs as
well. If nothing else, you'll appreciate them when you try to go to
sleep at night and the roaring in your ears isn't as loud. A windshield
can also reduce wind noise.

Clear:

Vision clarity can be an issue on extended rides too. About 15 years ago we
did a comparison test where one bike had significant distortion in the
top of its windshield. Several riders said riding it made them feel
disoriented or tired or gave them headaches. If your windshield creates
this problem, or if you have a face shield or sunglasses that are
optically imperfect, you should find a replacement or eliminate the
problem, perhaps by trimming the top of your windshield. If your vision
has changed so that your prescription is no longer adequate, update it before you leave.

Caffeine and Alcohol:
A
coffee or cola can briefly boost your alertness, but isn't a substitute
for adequate rest. Having a beer before or during a ride is a bad idea
for many reasons, but especially if you are slightly tired or fatigued.
Discouraging your riding companions from having one also does both of
you a favor.

Good Habits:
Those boring admonitions about diet and exercise also apply to fighting fatigue. They increase your energy level, which
makes you stronger and more alert. Of course, drinking adequate water is
important too, especially considering that you are being dehydrated
more rapidly because of your exposure to the wind. I don't hold with the
theory that you aren't drinking enough if you don't have to urinate
every 30 minutes though.

Fighting
fatigue provides benefits that go beyond safety. If you are alert and
refreshed, the ride itself is more enjoyable, and you'll get more out of
the sights and experiences that you came to enjoy.

Anna
Hazare has given an ultimatum to the Prime Minister that if the
government does not act a strong anti-corruption law on the lines of
“Jan Lokpal Bill” (To know what is Jan Lokpal Bill, google it ), he
will go on an indefinite fast from 5th April 2011.
On 1st December 2010, Anna Hazare, along with Swami Ramdev, Sri Sri
Ravi Shankar, ---Kiran Bedi, Swami Agnivesh, Arvind Kejriwal and others,
wrote to the Prime Minister to enact a strong law against corruption.

Who is Anna Hazare?

Anna Hazare was a soldier in Indian Army in 1963. In Indo Pak war in
1965, his entire unit died. He was the lone survivor. He was also hit by
a bullet but he survived. An ardent follower of Swami Vivekanand, he
thought that he had got a second life, which he ought to dedicate to the
society. He continued in army for the next 13 years, after which he
came to Ralegan Siddhi in Ahmednagar District in Maharashtra. He started
living in a temple there and since then he has been living in the same
temple. He has not gone back to his family so much so that he does not
even know the names of the children of his brothers. He is still a
bachelor. Barring a few books and a few clothes, he has no possessions
and no bank balance. He receives Rs 6000 per month pension which also he
gives away for social causes.

Anna’s appeal to the people:

“When I sit on fast on 5th April, I urge my fellow countrymen to
Join me in fasting for one, two, three or whatever number of days you can comfortably fast.
Along with fast, please pray to God (whoever you believe in) for better
and corruption free India. Collective prayers from all the people of
India would definitely have a huge impact.
Write an impassioned plea to our Prime Minister that we look upon him to
pass “Jan Lokpal Bill”, else we will be compelled not to vote for his
party in next elections.
Remain calm and peaceful and develop the courage to go to jail, if required, in this next freedom movement.

Anna needs our support and we should support him with heart as we did for indian cricket team, he is fighting for us against corruption.
